Alex Matthews
Alex Matthews, a psychotherapist with a
home-based practice, works in close partnership with her husband
Allen, also a therapist. Together they do counseling and create
the Cassidy McCabe series, with Alex writing the words and Allen
providing plot consultation, critiquing and promotion. Alex
writes mysteries that reflect her interest in women’s issues and
relationships. In her protagonist, Cassidy, Alex set out to
create a character most women can identify with: a woman who
struggles to develop healthy relationships, succeed in her
career, retain her independence, and get her mother’s voice out
of her head. "As a therapist, I can’t guarantee my clients will
solve their problems. But as Cass’s guardian angel, I can make
sure she always wins out in the end."
Alex and Allen share their Oak Park, Illinois, home with four cats. On summer evenings they
can be seen taking their unleashed cats for a walk.
